Hill and I made it to Florida! It's day five of our adventure, and we're already a day behind schedule. (This is called being on "Island Time" when one is in the Caribbean, but when one is still in the States, it's called poor planning.) We got everything out of our former apartment by noon on Monday, ran our last few errands in Chicago, and then drove to Cincinnati to spend the night with Hill's folks. Our original plan was to leave the next morning for Florida, but we were so wiped out that we decided to spend a day in Cincy to get caught up on sleep and the never ending list of tasks that need to be completed before we leave the country.
We arrived in West Palm Beach around 7pm last night. We're staying in a Hawthorn Suites room that is approximately five times bigger than the interior of boat. So we are planning on moving onto the boat on Sunday before we get too spoiled.
The weather here is also terrible by Florida standards - 67 with thunderstorms. Of course, compared to Chicago, it's completely awesome. When I heard the weatherman refer to the temperature as "chilly," I almost drove off the road laughing.
Our plan is to leave for the Bahamas by mid-next week. However, it all depends on how quickly we finish all of the aforementioned tasks as well as the weather. But for the first time in several weeks I see the light at the end of the tunnel. This is really going to happen!
