Hill grew up spending every summer on a sailboat and he's sailed and raced in two oceans. Beth thought sailing was merely an excuse for beer drinking and lake swimming. Her first question when Hill invited her to spend a week on his family's sailboat:
"Does it have a bathroom?"
Hill's answer:
"Yes, but it's called a head."
Three years later, Beth was translating boat terminology for their friends in Chicago as they raced Hill's 29 foot Dehler, Arcas, on Lake Michigan. In early 2008, they started getting serious about "this boat trip idea," and over Labor Day weekend, with the help of a map found in Hill's brother's attic, they plotted a circular route through the Caribbean and began planning a six-month trip in earnest.
Our departure date is January 2008. Join us as we travel from Chicago to Florida and into the Caribbean.
